Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder, Fabian Allen, booked his name in the candidates for the catch of the season after pulling off a blinder at deep mid-wicket. Liam Livingstone was the batsman who was dismissed owing to the West Indian’s diving effort.
The English batsman, Livingstone, has been in fabulous touch of late and he was looking in ominous touch against PBKS. It is also his first game for Rajasthan Royals (RR), having headed back home during the first phase of the league citing bubble fatigue.
Livingstone came in at the fall of Sanju Samson‘s wicket and the bowlers had their tail up. He looked busy at the crease right from the start, the confidence he was carrying clearly visible for everyone to see. A partnership was slowly brewing between Livingstone and Yashashvi Jaiswal.
KL Rahul turned to his dependable bowler, Arshdeep Singh, to provide the breakthrough. Livingstone initially scooped for a boundary, before launching one for a humongous 97-m six over deep mid-wicket.
He immediately tried to repeat the stroke but didn’t get it right off the meat of the blade. The ball traveled towards the same area where Fabian Allen was stationed. He moved to his right before flinging himself in the air to hang on to a brilliant catch.
Allen was aware of the boundary rope and managed to stay inside, completing a clean catch. The dismissal was a much-needed one for the PBKS side, as Livingstone was teeing up to inflict massive damage. Arshdeep gave a send-off to the batsman having had the last laugh in the duel.
