Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was back to his best in the ongoing net sessions in Chepauk ahead of the IPL 2021. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is slated to begin from April 9, with the final to be played on May 30. The tournament will be played across six venues in India and possibly behind closed doors.

Even last year, Chennai Super Kings were the first franchise to hold a preparation camp before the IPL 2020, which turned out to be a nightmare for the team, as more than 10 people tested positive for COVID-19 on landing in UAE for the tournament. This included players Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

However this time, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan had promised stricter protocols at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai with stern quarantine and testing rules. At IPL 2020, they failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their history, and this year, they are not messing around.

Skipper MS Dhoni looks resolute to change the luck of the team after a dismal performance in the previous edition, where they finished sixth in the table. This was the first time in IPL history that CSK had not made it into the playoffs and much blame for that went to their aging team and poor performances.

The CSK camp sees senior pros in attendance and along with that CSK have also called in two young Sri Lankan bowlers in Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana to add to their reserve squad. The two uncapped players have joined CSK’s training camp and Pathirana will be the focus for a lot of people.

CSK will begin their IPL 2021 campaign on March 10 with a game against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium. None of the teams will play any match at their home grounds to keep things fair and the matches are slated to be played across Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata.

The playoffs and final of the IPL 2021 will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a video of MS Dhoni smacking the bowlers in the net session and captioned the video, “Mahi way all the way!!! Eyes on #Thala #WhistlePodu #Yellove Yellow.”
