IPL 2021: Watch: Ravi Bishnoi Castles MS Dhoni As His UAE Struggle Continues
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni’s woeful UAE run with the bat continues as he was castled by Punjab Kings (PBKS) leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi. CSK is facing PBKS in the final round of matches of the IPL 2021 season.
KL Rahul asked the opponents to bat first on a track that was termed as ‘good’ in the pitch report. In-form openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis played out the first three overs watchfully before the former fell to Arshdeep Singh.
It was a second failure in a row for the 24-year-old Gaikwad. Out walked Moeen Ali who has been CSK’s savior in the late powerplay and middle overs. However, he struggled in his first five deliveries before being dismissed by the same bowler for a duck.
Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu followed suit and CSK were left struggling at 42/4 inside the first nine overs. Despite persistent calls for Ravindra Jadeja to be promoted up the order, Dhoni decided to come in and join Du Plessis at the crease.
He scored a couple of boundaries, trying to show his intent right from the beginning. The same intent got the better of him soon after, as Bishnoi sneaked one through the wide gap between Dhoni’s bat and pad. The bails were uprooted and Dhoni endured another poor outing out in the middle.
His strike rate has been a huge concern for the Chennai side as witnessed in the previous game against table-toppers, Delhi Capitals (DC). Dhoni scored a painful 27-ball 18 and was unable to accelerate heading into the final overs. The knock was a bit more assured but it didn’t last long, unfortunately.
