Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma’s maiden IPL 2021 outing ended in an unfortunate run-out as a horrible mix-up ensued between him and debutant Chris Lynn.
It all happened on the sixth ball of the 4th over bowled by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal when Chris Lynn rocked on the backfoot and stroked the leggie towards the cover region.
Rohit was keen to run for a single and Lynn’s initial couple of steps ensured that the Mumbai Indians skipper set off.
But Lynn backed off and sold Rohit down the river as after having reached halfway through the pitch, the ‘Hitman’ had no chance of returning back to the crease as Virat Kohli fired in the throw.

Rohit Sharma’s dismissal has come at the crucial time for the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore as the Hitman, having stroked Chahal for a six earlier in the over, was finally looking to get stuck in.
Rohit managed a 15-ball 19 which included a six and a four and the onus now will be on Chris Lynn to make amends for the run-out and play an impactful inning for his team.
At the time of writing, Suryakumar Yadav had already smoked a couple of boundaries as MI finished the powerplay at 1/41.
