Royal Challengers Bangalore leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal once again chipped in to rescue his team out of a difficult situation against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings.
RCB went on to upset PBKS as they pulled off the game in the final overs to win by six runs despite Punjab having a strong command during their chase. As usual openers, KL Rahul (39) and Mayank Agarwal set the stage for the team’s target but all RCB was required to do was to break the partnership.

And left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed broke the jinx for his team and put an end to a wonderful opening stand of 91 runs. PBKS’ too much dependence on the Karnataka duo has cost them a lot of games and once again RCB hurt them at their weak spot.
Chahal accounted for Mayank Agarwal’s wicket as the batsman attempted to sweep him but could only find a leading-edge that landed safely in the hands of Mohammed Siraj.
Three balls later the leg-spinner cleaned Sarfaraz Khan’s stumps with a sharp leg-break delivery as PBKS were reduced to 121/4 at the end of the 16th over.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s skills and mental sharpness come to the fore during high-pressure run-chases: Ajay Jadeja
Chahal, who was dropped from India’s T20 World Cup squad, has been tremendous with the bowl in the second leg of IPL 2021, he has picked 10 wickets in five games.
Former Indian player Ajay Jadeja credited Chahal for his excellent bowling against Punjab and said that the player should ask his captain Virat Kohli, who is also India’s captain, about his ignorance from the squad.
“Chahal’s skills and mental sharpness come to the fore during high-pressure run-chases. He scripted a turnaround in just one over. After he dismissed Mayank Agarwal, he was mentally all over the rest of the batsmen. Perhaps, now he can ask captain Kohli about his snub from the T20 World Cup squad which he couldn’t have done before because his performance wasn’t great,” Jadeja told Cricbuzz.
RCB successfully defended their first innings total of 164/7 and became the third team to qualify for the playoffs after Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
