The Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Shubman Gill shared his opinion on being called the next big player of the India national cricket team after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill stated that the legendary cricketers inspired many players to take up cricket as a profession.
Shubman Gill has been going through one of the best phases of his cricketing career. The right-handed batter scored hundreds in international cricket in all three formats of the game. Gill smashed three centuries in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In an interview with ANI, Shubman Gill praised Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, who have inspired generations of cricketers, and said that their legacies are immortal and can’t be defined.
“The generation that all of these people – Sachin sir (Tendulkar) sir, Virat (Kohli) bhai, Rohit Sharma – have inspired is beyond,” Shubman Gill told ANI.
“Had we not won the ’83 World Cup, had there been a Sachin Tendulkar? No. Had we not won the 2011 World Cup, would I be as inspired? Maybe, maybe not. Their legacies are immortal, you can’t really define them,” he added.

The 23-year-old is currently the “Orange Cap” holder in the current edition of the tournament. The GT opener scored 851 runs in 16 matches with an impressive average of 60.79 and a strike rate of 156.43. Gill was the lone performer in the GT line-up, as he scored 31.6% of the team’s runs in the IPL 2023.
The Punjab-born cricketer will be next seen in action when the defending champions take on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on the reserve day, Monday, May 29. Notably, Shubman Gill scored the winning runs in the final match of the previous edition of the IPL.
The final match between the Titans and Chennai Super Kings was to be played on Sunday, May 28. However, the match was pushed to a reserve day as rain didn’t allow the match to be played. The Ahmedbad-based franchise will be declared the winner of the tournament if the match is cancelled due to the rain.
