CSK vs SRH: “I Don't Understand This Concept Of Making Things More Difficult” - Murali Kartik Slams Sunrisers Hyderabad For Their Batting Order

Former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik has slammed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for their poor batting order in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that they are adding pressure on themselves by holding Heinrich Klaasen and Washington Sundar back.
Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a disappointing 14-run loss against Mumbai Indians in their recent game of the IPL 2023. This was the Aiden Markram-led side’s third loss in the league so far and it’s fair to say that they haven’t quite found their mojo so far.

In their last game, while chasing the target of 193 runs, SRH’s batting order was something that came into the limelight. They sent Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 36 runs, at No.6 and Washington Sundar at No.9. It’s fair to say that the keeper batter could’ve batted at No.5 and could’ve turned things around.
Murali Kartik said that by holding Klaasen and Sundar back they are making things more difficult for them and there was no cricketing sense in what they were doing. Speaking on Cricbuzz, he said:
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
“If you look at Hyderabad’s batting order, it seems as if they are adding pressure on their own players. What are they going to achieve by holding back Heinrich Klaasen and Washington Sundar. I don’t understand this concept of making things more difficult. I don’t see any cricketing sense in what they were trying to do.”
CSK vs SRH: “Heinrich Klaasen showed his class in this game,” Virender Sehwag lauds Sunrisers Hyderabad’s keeper-batter
After SRH lost wickets in the middle order, it was expected that they would clatter early and would lose by a big margin. But Heinrich Klaasen turned things around and played a brutal knock of 36 runs. He took Piyush Chawla to the cleaners and made a mockery of him.
Virender Sehwag, who was also present at the discussion, lauded the keeper batter for his heroics and said that he showed his class. The former Indian cricketer also pointed fingers at SRH’s batting order. He added:
“Harry Brook and Aiden Markram were the only in-form players Hyderabad had. Heinrich Klaasen showed his class in this game, especially with his big hits off Piyush Chawala. They should have considered sending Washington Sundar a bit earlier because he has done well with the bat for India. He could have come ahead of Abdul Samad. Marco Jansen also came in too late, considering that he can also hit the ball a long way.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be next seen in action when they will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (21st April).
