Virat Kohli, on Saturday (May 6), became the first-ever Indian batsman to hit 50 half-centuries in Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batsman achieved the historic feat during the clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The former India skipper is having a fine campaign in IPL 2023. After a forgettable outing in IPL 2022 where he managed only 341 runs from 16 matches at an average of 22.73, the batting superstar has looked in sublime form in the ongoing season. In 10 games so far, he has already smashed 6 fifties.

On Saturday, he and Faf du Plessis gave Royal Challengers Bangalore another solid start with the bat. The duo justified their team’s decision of batting first by sharing an 82-run stand for the first wicket. Mitchell Marsh broke the stand when he dismissed du Plessis for 45.
Virat Kohli creates history:
Unlike du Plessis, Virat Kohli made the most of the start he got and converted it into another fifty. The star batsman reached his fifty off 42 balls with a single on the last ball of the 15th over. And as soon as he touched the 50-run mark, he became the first-ever batsman from India to hit a fifty of fifties in the IPL.
