Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Shami opened up about his performance in the 44th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Delhi Capitals (DC). He said that he sticks to his plans which is the reason behind his success.
Although Gujarat Titans lost the game by 5 runs, Mohammad Shami was the shining light for them against Delhi Capitals. He rattled through the batting lineup of the opposition in the powerplay and put his team in the dominating position.

If this was not enough, he then removed Manish Pandey (1) and Priyam Garg (10) similarly to return the figures of 4/11, which helped his side restrict the opposition to a total of 130 runs. Notably, this was his career-best figures in the league and overall second-best figures in the powerplay.

Mohammed Shami was disappointed with the loss his side faced and said that they should’ve chased the target as the score was below par. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:
“I just try to stick to my plans. Stick to the areas, the line and the length that we discussed. This wasn’t a score that was above par, there was not too much swing. I felt we should have chased this.”
DC vs GT: “We needed partnerships,” says Mohammed Shami
Chasing the target, GT lost wickets upfront and couldn’t manage partnerships. Skipper Hardik Pandya smashed a valiant half-century but couldn’t take his side past the finishing line as they fell short of 5 runs.
Mohammed Shami believes that losing wickets in intervals was a mistake for them and they lacked partnerships. He elaborated.
“The mistake was losing wickets at regular intervals, we needed partnerships and they came too late for us. However, plenty of games left. Such things happen.”
Mohammed Shami will be next seen in action when GT will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next game on Friday (5th May). Despite the loss, the Hardik Pandya-led side are on the top of the table with 12 points.
