GT vs LSG: "I Had Not Hit Sixes In The Last Two Matches" - Shubman Gill After His Match-Winning Knock Against LSG

Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Shubman Gill opened up about his match-winning knock in the 51st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Ahmedabad. He said that he hadn’t hit sixes in the last two matches and he compensated that.

Shubman Gill yet again oozed his class in the IPL 2023 as he smashed a brilliant unbeaten 94 runs knock that put GT in a commanding position. Opening the batting, the batter first played second fiddle to Wriddhiman Saha (81) and then unleashed himself.

Shubman Gill ended with the knock of unbeaten 94 runs in 51 balls. He batted with an exceptional strike rate of 184.31 and smashed 2 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. His classy innings helped GT post a total of 227 runs on the board.

Shubman Gill lauded Wriddhiman Saha for his effort and said that it’s great for him that he’s able to share the field with the keeper batter. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:

“They were going well in the powerplay but our bowlers bowled well especially Mohit bhai. They restrict their batting lineup to under 180 which was a great effort. Just to be able to share his (Saha) experience, I stand next to him at slip, it is phenomenal with the way he keeps going, he’s been playing since the first IPL season.”

Shubman Gill, who smashed 7 sixes in his innings, said that it was important for him to not get carried away with the way Saha was batting and added that he always keeps working on his skills. He added:

“I didn’t get much to bat in the first few overs but it is important to not get carried away with what your partner is doing. I had not hit sixes in the last two matches and today I struck a few, I always keep working on my skills.”

Shubman Gill will be next seen in action when Gujarat Titans (GT) will next take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next game on Friday (12th May).
