IPL 2022 finalists Rajasthan Royals bought nine players in the IPL 2023 auction. They have completed a 25-member squad and still, they have 6.75 crores remaining in their purse. The finalists of IPL 2022 would look to go one better and win their second IPL title this year.

Heading into the IPL 2023 auction, RR needed all-rounders with James Neesham and Daryl Mitchell being released. They also need a good quality Indian pacer to pair alongside Navdeep Saini and Prasidh Krishna. Like all the franchises they also had eyes on Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green for filling up the all-rounder’s slot. They had a pretty solid first XI and needed overall backups.

Joe Root was one of their last-minute buys in the IPL auction. Root is out of England’s white-ball plans at the moment not having picked for the ODI series against South Africa. The former skipper is trying very hard to revive his white-ball career as he is playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ongoing ILT20 league. Root has scored 214 runs in five games striking at over 130. However, in a team with a settled batting line, up the former England skipper might find it difficult to break through.
