IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Above 30 Years Which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Can Target. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) always had superstars in their lineups, from the now-Indian coach Rahul Dravid in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, to the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Yet, they never have really gelled as a unit, and the title has remained elusive.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had a good outing in IPL 2022. In fact, they have been doing well in the last few seasons. That said, the expectation will be that the franchise must go all the way. They do have a few gaps in the squad. The Faf du Plessis-led squad can target a few good IPL 2023 auction signings but can also a few talented cricketers in the IPL 2023 trade window.
IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Above 30 Years Which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Can Target
Chris Gayle- 43 Years – Punjab Kings
Chris Gayle received a Hall of Fame induction from the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year. The Universe Boss has made it clear that he will return to IPL 2023 next year. It will be a great way to say thank you to Chris Gayle if RCB signs him and gives him a few matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium next year in IPL 2023.
After conquering the Bangalore crowds for RCB, Chris Gayle made a quiet move to Punjab Kings in 2018 and made an instant impact with another strong season that included a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chris Gayle had a fine season in 2019 where he was on the verge of getting his 7th IPL century but remained unbeaten on 99. His last season was in 2021. He has the most centuries in IPL history and has also recorded the highest individual score of 175*.
Sandeep Warrier- 31 Years- Kolkata Knight Riders
Kerala pacer Sandeep Warrier was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2019 IPL season and he picked up just two wickets in his debut season. The Kerala pacer’s good form with the ball earned him an IPL call-up.
He was the standout bowler for Kerala in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season claiming 44 wickets from 10 matches. He was instrumental in Kerala’s maiden entry in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy. Sandeep Warrier has played only 5 games and has picked 2 scalps- all for KKR.
Ravichandran Ashwin – 36 Years- Rajasthan Royals
The man who made a comeback in 2021 to white-ball cricket has tons of experience under him. With subtle variations, the ability to fox the batters, and not be afraid to get hit, Ravichandran Ashwin’s experience will augur well for Bangalore. Plus, his ability to use the new ball and bowl in the powerplays makes him an added asset to the side.
The Tamil Nadu off-spinner is no slouch with the bat either. His ability to put the long handle to good effect makes him valuable down the order. With Ravichandran Ashwin in their ranks, Rajasthan Royals have got a major shot in the arm. Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, have a potent spin duo, and negotiating with them weren’t too easy.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s record speaks for itself and the wily off-spinner has been legendary with his performances. The 36-year-old off-spinner has picked 157 scalps in 184 games averaging 28.89 and economy of 6.98. He picked 12 scalps in 17 games in IPL 2022. If Rajasthan releases him, RCB may acquire him for IPL 2023.
