Prior to the IPL 2023 auction, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released 8 players from their IPL 2022 roster. In response to their ninth-place finish in the IPL 2022, the four-time champions decided to cut several notable international players and another Indian player who had recently smashed multiple records.
Although CSK would like to buy some of the players they released from the auction, plans rarely go as predicted due to the auction dynamic. Learn about the released three Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players who may receive a bid of more than 8 crores during the IPL 2023 auction.
IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Released By Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Who Can Be Bought For More Than 8 Crores
Dwayne Bravo
The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) sold senior all-rounder and longtime player Dwayne Bravo prior to the IPL 2023 auction.
Since joining Chennai Super Kings in 2011, the West Indian has won the Purple Cap twice (2013 and 2015). The Yellow Army paid INR 4.40 Crore for the Caribbean all-rounder during the 2022 IPL Auction.
The 39-year-old was unable to justify the price tag after scoring only 23 runs in 10 games at a miserable average of 11.50. He had a bowling economy of 8.71 and 16 wickets in 10 games. During his time, he was considered one of T20 Cricket’s best death bowlers. His ability to cut runs in death overs may make him a sought-after asset in the upcoming auction.
Adam Milne
Adam Milne was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 1.90 crore in the 2022 auction. Before suffering a hamstring injury and being forced to retire from the competition, he participated in just one game and bowled only 15 deliveries. He couldn’t fit into CSK’s plans because the team didn’t use him to his full potential the previous season, thus they decided to let him go.
Due to his ability to regularly bowl between 140 and 150 kilometers per hour, the New Zealand cricketer may draw the attention of several IPL clubs at the auction.
Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan was purchased for INR 3.60 crore by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He was picked primarily to address the issues with death bowling. But the English bowler’s appalling economy rate of 10.52 and two wickets in four games suggested that he was out of rhythm.
However, his recent World Cup efforts against Pakistan and India may help him obtain another IPL contract in the mini-auction even though he didn’t make much of an impact for CSK the previous season.
Jordan can deliver accurate yorkers and bouncers and reach speeds of over 140 km/h, which could wreak havoc on any batting order in the world on his best day. He could rise to the top of the competition in the future auction and earn big money.
