Following BCCI’s completion of the retentions earlier this month, the IPL 2023 Auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi. Prior to the mega auction, the board requested that the players submit a list of the players they wanted to keep by November 15. 18 players were kept by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while 8 players were released.

In the past four seasons, Chennai Super Kings have won the championship twice, in 2018 and 2021. They placed eighth in the points standings in the 2022 edition, winning just four games and losing 10.

Many of the players on the list of those who have been publicly revealed are known short-format performers, and some of them are anticipated to be in great demand during the IPL 2023 auction. There are others, though, that might not pique the franchisees’ attention and end up unsold at the future auction.

Let’s have a look at the 3 players released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who might go unsold in the auction.

C Hari Nishaanth

C Hari Nishaanth has not yet played in an IPL game. At the IPL Auction 2021, the Chennai Super Kings Team offered him his first-ever IPL contract. The CSK franchise was successful in obtaining his services for the basic fee of INR 20 lakh.

Hari Nishaanth has participated in 19 T20 games so far, and he has had 18 opportunities to bat. The batsman for Tamil Nadu has totaled 393 runs at a strike rate of 120.18 in 18 innings. Nishaanth has been out of form recently, doubting his chances at the IPL 2022 auction.

K Bhagath Varma

K Bhagath Varma has never participated in an IPL game. At the IPL Auction 2021, the Chennai Super Kings Team purchased the player from Hyderabad for his base price of INR 20 lakh. We don’t know a lot about this off-spinner.

Numerous spectators were therefore shocked when the Chennai Super Kings boosted their bid for the all-rounder with a base in Hyderabad. He will have to defeat stiff opposition to secure a spot in the auction.

Dwayne Bravo

The sight of Dwayne Bravo’s name on the list of released players was the biggest surprise for the audience. The 39-year-old worked for CSK for ten years and currently leads the IPL in wickets taken. Bravo has taken 183 wickets, but given his advanced age, it seems doubtful that any team will select him.

Bravo had 16 wickets in the previous edition, but he was unable to contribute because of Chennai’s strong batting lineup. Bravo has only scored 77 runs over the last three seasons, and he hasn’t really shown off his all-around talent.
