The next season of the IPL is still a long way off, but with the upcoming mini-auction next month, teams have stepped up their preparations.
Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders made a move on Sunday, acquiring Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson and Afghanistan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz from IPL champions Gujarat Titans.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, an Afghan wicketkeeper-batsman, was also traded by Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders. He was a substitute for England batsman Jason Roy in the Gujarat Titans lineup for the 2022 TATA IPL, however, he did not participate in any games in the prior campaign.
“Kolkata Knight Riders have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans. He was included in the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2022 TATA IPL edition as a replacement for England batter Jason Roy but did not play any game last season,” the BCCI announced in a statement on Sunday.
Lockie Ferguson played 13 matches for Gujarat Titans:
For the upcoming TATA IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans traded fast bowler Lockie Ferguson to Kolkata Knight Riders. He took 12 wickets in 13 games for the Gujarat Titans, including a 4-wicket haul.
Ferguson was acquired by Gujarat Titans in the 2022 IPL auction for Rs 10 crore.
From 2017 until 2021, Ferguson served as a representative for the Kolkata Knight Riders. In 13 T20I games, the right-arm fast has taken 12 wickets with the best bowling effort of 4/28.
He will play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL’s 2023 season, where he played 21 games and took 24 wickets.
“New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. He played 13 matches for Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul,” the BCCI announced in a statement on Sunday.
After Mumbai Indians transferred Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff to Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, the Kolkata-based franchise becomes the second IPL team to trade in players during this session.
