5-time winners Mumbai Indians will be entering the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi on December 23 with a lot to ponder upon while they look to upgrade their unit. With 10 defeats and 4 wins, the team led by Rohit Sharma had one of the worst seasons ever. They placed 10th overall in the standings.

However, they will continue to benefit from one of the most stunning purchases, Jofra Archer, who will be back to bolster the team’s bowling assault. The top-order, which was scrutinised throughout the competition, will also benefit greatly from Ishan Kishan’s resurgence.

Anil Kumble Wants Mumbai Indians To Go For Sikandar Raza

Mumbai Indians dropped 13 players from the team before to the mini-auction and are planning to sign a star spinner. Anil Kumble, a former captain of India, agreed and suggested that the team should consider Sikandar Raza.

“Mumbai Indians don’t have a marquee spinner in their ranks. Kartikeya (Kumar Kartikeya Singh) did really well for them last year. If they have to go for an Indian spinner with experience then they will have to probably go back to Amit Mishra or Piyush Chawla.

I don’t see that happening. Perhaps, the only option for them is to go for the overseas spinner. Who will it be? There’s Adil Rashid, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Adam Zampa,” Kumble said on the JioCinema app.

“I would probably look towards Sikandar Raza because he can also give you a wonderful middle-order batting (option) as well, along with his spin which is not easy to pick, and he has done well in the recent past,” he added.

Mumbai Indians go into the IPL 2023 player auction with a purse of INR 20.55 crore. With that amount, they have to fill in nine slots remaining in the squad, of which at least three can be overseas players.
