IPL 2023 Auction: "Questions Need To Be Asked To The One Making These Decisions" - Aakash Chopra On SRH

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) has taken quite bold decisions by releasing Kane Williamson & the dashing batter Nicholas Pooran ahead of the Auction. SRH had a good start to the 2022 edition but failed in the later half of the tourney which hurt them a lot.

Earlier in 2021, SRH astonishingly released David Warner who was quite instrumental in leading SRH to their maiden title in 2016. SRH would be keen to make a mark in the 2022 edition as the team has failed to make it to the playoffs since the last 2 editions.

Aakash Chopra On SRH

Aakash Chopra was speaking on his YouTube channel and made interesting comments on SRH. “When you spend around 7 crores on Romario Shepherd and around 12 crores on Pooran, questions need to be asked to the one making these decisions in the auction whether they’re buying only to release next year,” said Aakash Chopra.

“The sun has actually set for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they have released a whole host of players and have INR 42.25 crore in their kitty. However, their retained core doesn’t look strong enough. One thing is for sure that they won’t need fast bowlers as they already have an army of pacers,” he added.

Crucial Auction for SRH

If SRH don’t buy Kane Williamson then they will have to find a new leader and it would be interesting to see what tactics the newly appointed Head Coach Brian Lara applies.  The most likely candidate to take the captaincy would be the speedster, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as he was handed the captaincy for the 2019 edition for a short period of time.

As we all know that Nicholas Pooran has had a terrific T10 Abu Dhabi season, and he could be one of the most expensive players in the Auction 2023. The left-handed batter has shown immense hitting ability. It won’t be wrong to say that the batter can be the captaincy candidate for SRH.
