The stage is prepared for the IPL mini-auction in 2023. While talks were underway to hold it in Instabul or perhaps Bengaluru, the auction will now take place in Kochi on December 23rd, 2022.
The formal announcement will be made following the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup Finals. Every team has a stable squad that they built earlier this year during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, therefore this will be a mini-auction.

While the T20 World Cup is the focus of attention, IPL franchises are working to complete their retentions list ahead of the Mini-Auction on December 23 in Kochi. The teams must submit the final list of retained players by November 15 according to a deadline imposed by the BCCI. This time, franchises can keep up to 15 players, but the remaining 10 must be released. The squad size for IPL 2022 was set at a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players.

The mini-auction will be completed in just one day, as opposed to the mega auction in February, which took place over two days. However, mini-auctions have historically resulted in some of the most expensive purchases, particularly in the category of foreign players.
Franchises are interested in seeing if allrounders Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green will enter the auction this year. If they do, they’ll probably be in great demand.
Each IPL franchise will receive an extra INR 5 crore:
Each team will receive an additional INR 5 crore (about US $607,000) to spend at this auction in addition to the money left over from their last auction purse, making the total purse INR 95 crore (around US $11.5 million).

After last year’s auction, Punjab Kings had the most money left over – INR 3.45 crore (about. US $425,000), while Lucknow Super Giants had spent it all. The Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95 crore (approximately US $358,000) left, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (INR 1.55 crore, or approximately US $188,000), Rajasthan Royals (INR 0.95 crore, or approximately US $115,000), and Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 0.45 crore, or approximately US $55,000).
Good news for franchises – apart from what's remaining in their purse, each team will get an additional INR 5 crore (approx. US $607,000) to spend

Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, were left with INR 0.15 crore (about. US $18,000), while three other teams – Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals – received INR 0.10 crore (approx. US $12,000).
