Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketers Chris Gayle and Robin Uthappa are said to have chastised the club for failing to support other players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Notably, Kohli (238 matches, 7048 runs) and de Villiers (157 matches, 4522 runs) are the franchise’s top two run scorers.

Chris Gayle, a former player with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is not far behind with 3420 runs and 5 hundred for RCB, all coming off just 91 games. However, Uthappa struggled while playing for Bangalore, scoring only 706 runs in 40 games.

Gayle joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 and played some of his best IPL knocks for them. He amassed 3163 runs in 84 innings for the franchise. The southpaw also won the Orange Cap while representing RCB in 2011 and 2012, scoring 608 and 733 runs, respectively.

Chris Gayle slams RCB after Uthappa claims they’re just interested in Kohli and de Villiers:

A tweet from Indian sports journalist Himanshu Pareek claims that former Team India cricketers Robin Uthappa and Gayle are dissatisfied with the way players other than former captain Virat Kohli and the retired AB de Villiers have been treated.

The post quotes Chris Gayle as saying, “Yeah, players do not feel like a part of the team in RCB. They (the franchise) need to learn how to work on words like TRUST and LOYALTY”.

Fans of both teams took issue with the statements. Gayle was criticized for disrespecting the teams that believed in him despite his inconsistencies. In addition to South African superstar AB de Villiers, the West Indies batsman was inducted into RCB’s Hall of Fame last year.
In addition, despite participating in the IPL since its start in 2008, RCB is one of the few franchises that has failed to win the championship. They will seek to end their trophy drought in the upcoming IPL season.
