IPL 2023: "If You Sell Him, You Could Make Up To 16 Crores": Ravichandran Ashwin On Ravindra Jadeja Being Retained By CSK Ahead Of Mini Auction

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction, bringing an end to any rumors of a disagreement between the two parties.
In response, Ravichandran Ashwin stated that the franchise made the correct decision by not ending things with the left-hander. He claimed that while CSK would have received 16 crores for releasing Jadeja, finding a substitute for him would have been impossible given his all-round ability.
“Imagine a player of Ravindra Jadeja’s caliber declaring his desire to play for a different team. You must consider things from two angles. It’s one thing for a player like him to leave your team” Ravichandran Ashwin explained.
“If you sell him, you could make up to 16 crores. But how would you replace an Indian player like him? Second, if you trade him to another team, how strong will that team be? That is completely unrealistic. I believe a more sensible judgment was made” Ravichandran Ashwin Added.
Jadeja’s selection as CSK’s captain before this year’s cash-rich league is noteworthy. After only eight games, he stepped down, and MS Dhoni took over as team captain once more.
“Manish Pandey is an interesting release”: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin continued by saying that Manish Pandey may be on CSK’s attention given that they are looking for an Indian batsman after Robin Uthappa announced his retirement.
He anticipated that the MS Dhoni-led team would think about making a bid for Pandey. It is important to note that the right-handed batter spent the previous season with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He was not, however, kept by the franchise.
“Manish Pandey is a fascinating new release. There will be a high demand for Indian batters, hence Manish Pandey will be in high demand. CSK may also pursue him because they require an Indian hitter.”
The upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi. The Chennai-based franchise will compete with a purse of Rs. 20.45 crore.
