Dewald Brevis is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s greatest prospects for the future. The incredibly gifted batsman, known as “Baby AB” because of his uncanny similarity in shotmaking to the famous AB de Villiers, has continued to prove why people call him that with his jaw-dropping performance.

He has been in high demand in the numerous T20 leagues across the world, and the Mumbai Indians, five-time winners of the IPL, won his services at the big auction earlier this year.

MI’s owners have also acquired his signature for the forthcoming SA20, where he will represent their Cape Town-based club. And Brevis is eager to get started.

“It’s a dream come true, It has always been my dream to represent Mumbai Indians, and now MI Cape Town, and to be able to play on the big stage because the crowds are massive, and I really enjoy it,” remarked Brevis.

Brevis burst into the scene at the ICC U19 World Cup earlier this year, breaking Shikhar Dhawan’s record for the most runs scored in a single match. He was also named the tournament’s player of the year for his performance.

And ever since, teams have been rushing up to hire him, sending his stock skyrocketing. He recently demonstrated his promise by smashing 162 off 57 at a Cricket South Africa T20 Challenge.

Brevis has big hopes for the SA20, which will be held in January of next year.

“I believe this tournament will be fantastic. With all of these guys coming to South Africa, the cricket will be very good. It will be fiercely contested. “People must be prepared because there will be a lot of fireworks, boundaries, and wickets,” he said.

Brevis will be in the same dressing room as fellow countrymen Kagiso Rabada and Rassie van der Dussen, as well as Liam Livingstone, Jofra Archer, and Rashid Khan.
