IPL 2023: James Foster Promoted As Assistant Coach At Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Former player and English cricket coach James Foster will serve as the assistant coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Foster was a wicket-keeper who appeared in seven Tests and 11 One Day Internationals in 2001-02 and 2002-03.

James Foster, who retired from cricket, was named Glamorgan’s T20 batting consultant for the 2019 T20 Blast.  He was named head coach of the Khulna Tigers, a Bangladesh Premier League side, for the 2019-20 season.

He has also been named as the KKR Fielding Coach for the 2020 IPL season. , In 2022, he was appointed as the head coach of Peshawar Zalmi, replacing Daren Sammy, who was unable to execute his duties owing to personal reasons a few days before the 2022 Pakistan Super League.

Ryan ten Doeschate takes over for James Foster:

Former Netherlands international Ryan ten Doeschate, who was born in South Africa, is expected to join the Kolkata Knight Riders team’s support staff in the Indian Premier League (IPL). James Foster, who was elevated to assistant coach, will be replaced by him as the team’s new fielding coach. Naturally, both will answer to head coach Chandrakant Pandit.

Ten Doeschate (42), a former player for KKR who was a member of the teams that won the titles in 2012 and 2014, might also have a job with the team’s UAE League subsidiary (ILT20). For the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders team, he will serve as an assistant coach.

Auction likely in India now: 

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the IPL and the BCCI appear to have abandoned their plans to hold the December 16 mini-auction in Istanbul.

The franchises initially discussed the Istanbul proposal, but because of logistical and operational issues, it had to be abandoned. Although the new location has not yet been decided, it will be in India.
