Mumbai Indians purchased him for INR 8 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction despite being aware of his injury status and the fact that he would not be participating in the IPL 2022. They did this in an effort to secure their fast-bowling future and provide their fans with the much-desired fast-bowling duo of Archer and Bumrah in the IPL 2023.
