IPL 2023: "Kele Ki Shop Lagao, Ande Becho Ja Ke"- Kapil Dev Furious Over Pressure Of IPL

IPL 2023 has started making headlines as this time BCCI is all set to introduce home & away venue matches. The 2023 edition is expected to be a riveting one. The Champion Teams: MI, CSK & KKR had a forgettable season where the new teams LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) & Gujarat Titans (GT) stamped the authority.

It is assumed that the upcoming tournament would be the last one for MS Dhoni as he has said that he would like to play in front of CSK fans. The Legendary Captain would be keen to end his journey on a high after a disastrous 2022 edition.

Kapil Dev On IPL

Kapil Dev was seen in a Facebook Video and made some interesting comments on IPL & players. “I keep hearing ‘We are playing the IPL. There is so much pressure.’ This word is so common, right? To them, I say ‘Don’t play’. Who is asking you to? There is pressure, but if you are playing at that level, you will be admired and abused,” said Kapil Dev.

“If you are afraid of abuses, then don’t play. You are representing the country and you have pressure? How is that possible? Out of a country of 100 crore, 20 of you are playing and then you say you have pressure? Instead, say it’s a matter of pride. You are getting so much love from people. Learn to take that pride,” he added.

Kapil Dev was quite furious on players. “Pressure is an American word. If you don’t want to work, don’t. Is anyone forcing you? Jaa ke kele ki shop lagao. Ande becho ja ke. (Open a banana stall, go sell eggs). But when you have gotten an opportunity, why do you take it as pressure. Take it as pleasure and have fun with it. The day you start doing it, the job will appear easy. But if you call the same thing pressure, nothing good can come of it,” said Kapil Dev.

Since the inclusion of 2 new teams, the craze of IPL has gone to the next level. The main reason behind the pressure on Indian players may be because, in IPL, the players aren’t given a long rope as compared to their domestic teams. It would be interesting to see how the edition pans out as all the teams would be roaring to make a mark.
