Sam Curran, the player of the tournament in the T20 WC 2022 proved to be the costliest player in IPL 2023 Auction. The all-rounder was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whooping price of 18.5 Crores. The Cricketer has got an ‘X’ factor where he can surprise the opponent with his tricky variations.
Sam Curran currently is a part of MI Cape Town (MI CT) in the inaugural edition of the SA20 league. So far, the SA20 league has grabbed the eyeballs of the World Cricket where there have been some good contests. The presence of IPL franchises has made the atmosphere electric.

Aakash Chopra on Sam Curran
Aakash Chopra was speaking on his YouTube channel and made some interesting comments on Sam Curran. “Sam Curran hasn’t batted or bowled that well until now. Although he is in MICT now, those in Punjab Kings will also be feeling the pain and hoping that he finds form as they spent so much money on him.” said Aakash Chopra.
“MICT bowlers were given a reality check by the Supergiants. Archer won’t be there now as he was allowed to play just two games which he already has. So maybe Kagiso Rabada will come into the team in his place.” he added.
Crucial Season for Punjab Kings
We have seen in the past that PBKS makes a good start but they aren’t able to capitalize on it. With Shikhar Dhawan, named as the skipper of the side, we can expect some fierce cricket. This time BCCI is going to introduce a home & away venue system for the tournament where we can see even contest between bat & ball.
The PBKS management should give Sam Curran a long rope as the all-rounder shouldn’t be dropped after a couple of bad games. PBKS haven’t made it to the finals of IPL since 2014 when the franchise would be keen to get their hands on the elusive trophy.
