As the start of IPL 2023 draws near, franchises are frantically engaging in last-minute negotiations to secure replacements for their teams. In light of Prasidh Krishna’s prolonged absence due to injury, Rajasthan Royals have recruited veteran player Sandeep Sharma as his replacement for the upcoming season.
Sandeep Sharma had previously been trialling with the RR team, and the decision to include him was made this morning. Meanwhile, Obed McCoy may also be absent from the upcoming season, and as of now, the RR team have not announced a replacement for the West Indian player.
Sandeep Sharma was recently seen at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp in Jaipur, preparing for the upcoming IPL 2023 season. Having played for Punjab Kings in the previous season, Sandeep went unsold during the IPL 2023 mini-auction held in December.

However, reports suggest that both Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were keen on securing his services as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna for the upcoming season. Ultimately, it was the Royals who managed to secure the player’s signature.
Sandeep Sharma Joins Rajasthan Royals For IPL 2023
Having played for the Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad franchises over the years, Sandeep Sharma is a seasoned bowler in the IPL with considerable success. In 104 IPL matches, he has taken 114 wickets at an average of 26.33, with his best performance being figures of 4/20 against Delhi in 2017.

In the statement by the IPL Media Advisory, it was made official that the player is now officially a part of the Royals for the upcoming season being purchased at his base price.
“Fast bowler Sandeep Sharma will represent Rajasthan Royals this season after being signed as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna. Picked for his base price of INR 50 lakh, Sandeep is one of the most senior bowlers in the tournament with over 100 wickets and 10 seasons of experience under his belt.”
Sandeep Sharma will be eager to perform for his new franchise and it will be interesting to see if the team management decides to bank on the veteran from the first fixture given Prasidh Krishna was a crucial first-team player.
