Viacom18 Sports has assembled top cricketers for the much-anticipated mini-auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 23. Veteran India batter Suresh Raina is set to make a comeback as a cricket expert and will join the panel alongside some of the elite names, including England’s World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan and Universe Boss Chris Gayle.
The BCCI has shortlisted 405 players, including 132 international players, from a total of 991 players who have registered to compete for 87 auction spots. Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green are among the names expected to make headlines. Indian players including Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, and Jaydev Unadkat have the potential to spark bidding wars among the 10 teams.

Suresh Raina hasn’t joined a coaching staff after retiring from the Indian Premier League. Raina will continue to share his experience with fans as a member of the renowned expert panel for Jio Sports’ IPL 2023 mini-auction. The platform holds the digital rights to the IPL, while Star Sports holds the television rights.
The 36-year-old registered his name for last year’s mega auction after being released by CSK, but no franchises showed interest in him during the two-day event, and he went unsold. The southpaw made his debut as a broadcaster and pundit. During the IPL 2022, he was a part of Star Sports’ IPL Hindi commentary panel.
Suresh Raina is the fifth highest run-getter in IPL history with 5528 runs in 205 matches, including a century and 39 half-centuries at a strike rate of 136.76 and an average of 32.52. He retired from international cricket in August 2020, and he represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is. The southpaw signed a contract with the Deccan Gladiators for the Abu Dhabi T-10 League in 2022 earlier this year.
