The franchises spent INR 167 Crores to buy 80 players in the bidding arena of the 405 players registered officially. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought the most number of players, having acquired the services of as many as 13 players. The side also had the highest remaining purse heading into the auction with 42.25 Cr. to spend.
Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan were among the unsold players in the IPL auction 2023 that included several Indian stars as well like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Priyank Panchal, Varun Aaron, Sandeep Sharma, and Shreyas Gopal to name few.

He won the orange cap once in IPL 2020 for scoring 670 runs and was the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2021 and IPL 2022, scoring 626 and 616 runs respectively.
In 100 IPL innings, the top-order batsman has accumulated 3889 runs, at an average of 48 and strike rate of 136. This includes 4 centuries and 31 half-centuries. Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul will surely be one of the top contenders to win the orange cap in IPL 2023 and be the Man of the Tournament.
KL Rahul’s run-tally from the last four seasons (recent first) read: 626, 670, 593, and 659. The stylish yet destructive right-hander also holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the IPL.
Other contenders from the Lucknow franchise to win Man of the Tournament are keepers Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, leg spinner Amit Mishra, pacers Avesh Khan, and Mark Wood, and all-rounders Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis.
Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals)
Jos Buttler was the standout performer for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. The swash-buckling top-order player piled the highest 863 runs in the season, running away with the orange cap. This included 4 centuries. His batting display was a treat to watch.
Jos Buttler has always been an exciting cricketer. In 82 matches, he has scored 2831 runs at an average of nearly 40 and a strike rate of close to 150, including 5 centuries. He will be leading the race to win the orange cap in IPL 2023.
He may be awarded Man of the Tournament from Rajasthan Royals alongside other contenders like Sanju Samson, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Joe Root, and Jason Holder.
Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings)
Ravindra Jadeja, the spin all-rounder of Chennai Super Kings had a poor IPL 2022 by his standards but can do well in IPL 2023 after recovering from knee surgery. Ravindra Jadeja, who has over 2500 runs in 210 IPL games besides 132 scalps, scored 227 at an impressive average of 75.66 and strike rate of 145 + besides picking 13 scalps in 16 games in IPL 2021 averaging 26.61. He will be desperate to return to form in IPL 2023 after missing out on IPL 2022.

David Warner (Delhi Capitals)

The left-hander commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt, and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returned to represent the team in IPL 2022 and scored 432 runs averaging 48 in 12 IPL 2022 games at a strike rate of 150.52.
Other contenders to win the Man of the Tournament award from Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 are Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Rilee Rossouw, Mitchell Marsh, and Manish Pandey to name a few.
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans)
Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya has nearly 2000 IPL runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of nearly 150. He had an exceptional IPL 2022 for champions and new entrant Gujarat Titans, leading from the front with 487 runs in 15 IPL 2022 games averaging 44.27.
He also picked 8 scalps averaging 27.75. Other contenders to win the Man of the Tournament award from Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 are David Miller, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Mavi, Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Shami.
Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Andre Russell, the X factor of Kolkata Knight Riders, scored 335 runs in 14 games averaging 37.22 at a strike rate of 174.48 to show he hasn’t finished yet in IPL 2022. He had also picked 17 scalps averaging 16.35 with a best of 4/5 in IPL 2022. IPL 2020 and 2021 weren’t great for him as he amassed only 117 and 184 runs respectively averaging a mere 13 and 26.14 respectively.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Nitish Rana, and Shakib Al Hasan are other contenders to win the Man of the Tournament award from Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023.
Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians)
Suryakumar Yadav is a contender to win the Man of the Tournament award from Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023 alongside Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David.
In IPL 2019, he amassed 424 runs to be MI’s second-highest run-getter. He outperformed himself in the IPL 2020 season scoring 480 runs at a strike rate of 145 and went on to make his T20 International debut later for India.
He had amassed 512 runs in IPL 2018 averaging 36.57. In IPL 2021, he amassed 317 runs in 14 games, and in IPL 2022, he amassed 303 runs in 8 games averaging 43.29. The No. 1 ranked T20I batter will bat in the middle order for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.
Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings)
Shikhar Dhawan, the newly appointed Punjab Kings skipper is a contender to win the Man of the Tournament award from Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2023 alongside Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Shahrukh Khan, Sam Curran, and Sikandar Raza.

Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Virat Kohli, the highest run-getter in IPL, is a contender to win the Man of the Tournament award from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2023 apart from skipper Faf du Plessis, keeper Dinesh Karthik, all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Virat Kohli has been a part of the RCB since its inception in 2008. In his 15 years of IPL career, he amassed 6,624 runs in 223 matches at a strike rate of 129.15, with five centuries and 44 half-centuries. In the last season IPL 2022, he couldn’t perform up to expectations with just 341 runs in 16 matches at a dismal strike rate of 115.99.
In the 2016 edition, he had his best IPL season scoring 973 runs in just 16 matches at a strike rate of 152.03, with four hundreds. Virat Kohli will look to be amongst the runs if RCB has to win their maiden title in IPL 2023. Virat Kohli’s century drought ended when he scored a maiden T20I ton against Afghanistan and he followed it up with another ton against Bangladesh in ODIs.
Umran Malik (SunRisers Hyderabad)
Umran Malik, the SRH pacer is a contender to win the Man of the Tournament award from SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2023 apart from Marco Jansen, Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Washington Sundar.
Umran Malik, the tearaway express pacer of SRH, has also played for India after a successful stint for the Hyderabad franchise in IPL 2022 where he picked 22 scalps from 14 games averaging 20.18 including career-best figures of 5/25. He has picked 24 scalps from 17 matches so far in IPL averaging 22.5. He will be the one pacer to look out for in IPL 2023.
