IPL Auction 2023: 3 Australian Players That Chennai Super Kings Can Target.  Chennai Super Kings finished 9th in the 10-team tournament in IPL 2022. Several talented youngsters will be brought up at the IPL 2023 auction table and CSK would want to buy some to strengthen their squad as they’d want to push for one more title in what is most likely to be talismanic skipper MS Dhoni’s last IPL season.

The star all-rounder played with the franchise for many years and was retained for INR 16 crore in the 15th edition of IPL 2022. From being criticized for his captaincy and poor performance with the bat to stepping down as the skipper, Ravindra Jadeja was in the news for the wrong reasons in IPL 2022. Reports tell that MS Dhoni has made it very clear to the CSK management that they cannot lose Ravindra Jadeja at any cost.

As many as 991 players, including 277 overseas stars, have registered for the IPL 2023 mini-auction, which will be held in Kochi on December 23. Australian players dominate the list of 991 registered players as 57 have signed up for the mini-auction from the country.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa, the Australian leg spinner is one of the players CSK can target in the IPL auction 2023. A quality leg-spinner can wreak havoc in Chepauk. Prashant Solanki is available but he is inexperienced. Adam Zampa is someone who often goes under the radar and it is such players that CSK prefers to hire.

Therefore, the Aussie looks like a tailor-made pick for the four-time IPL champions. A 28-year-old leg-spinner from New South Wales, Adam Zampa got his first taste of the IPL when he joined the Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2016. He played three seasons in 2016, 2017, and 2020 (for Royal Challengers Bangalore) where he picked 21 scalps in 14 matches including a 6/19 in his debut season against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Cameron Green

The Chennai Super Kings loved the presence of Shane Watson in their squad. They have always loved multi-faceted players. They also have a decent purse of 20.45 crore. Hence, they can aggressively bid for Cameron Green in the IPL auction 2023.

He can be their opening batter alongside Devon Conway or Ruturaj Gaikwad. Cameron Green also gives you a few overs with the ball. Cameron Green is yet to play IPL but has played 8 T20Is. He rose to prominence after scoring 118 runs including 2 fifties (61 and 52) in the India tour in 3 T20Is. He has also played 15 Tests and 13 ODIs.

Riley Meredith

Riley Meredith is one of the few choices available to the Chennai Super Kings, who are in need of a tearaway pacer in their lineup after releasing Adam Milne prior to the IPL auction 2023. He is swift and can consistently reach speeds of over 150 kmph.

Riley Meredith has the potential to flourish under MS Dhoni’s capable leadership if he’s picked in the IPL auction 2023. The four-time champions may find the Tasmanian to be a very wise acquisition because he is a true wicket-taker.

The right-arm pacer from Tasmania made his T20I debut against New Zealand in 2021- he has picked 8 scalps in 5 T20Is.  He debuted in the IPL after the Punjab Kings won the bidding war, eventually acquiring the Aussie pacer for INR 8 Cr in IPL 2021 auctions, becoming one of the most expensive uncapped players in IPL.

He has played 13 IPL games and has picked 12 scalps averaging 33.75 in IPL 2021 and 2022 combined for Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings. The pacer was associated with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2022, the season which saw a decline in the performance of perennial IPL champions. The speedster scalped eight wickets in the season for MI at an expensive economy of 8.43 in IPL 2022.
