IPL Auction 2023: Complete List Of Sri Lankan Players Participating In IPL 2023 Auction. 10 players from Sri Lanka will be participating in the IPL 2023 auction. The auction will be held in Kochi on December 23. It will start from 12.30 pm IST and run on till the evening. Notably, each team can have a maximum of 25 players, including a maximum of 8 overseas stars, and a minimum of 18 players in their full squad after the auction.
Meanwhile, a total of 991 players, including 714 Indians and 277 overseas, registered for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Now, the board BCCI has shortlisted the players and announced the IPL 2023 Player Auction list. The BCCI further narrowed down the list from 991 to 405.
10 teams initially shortlisted 369 players, but later 36 additional players were requested and they were added to the final list. Among 405 cricketers, 273 are Indians and 132 are overseas players of which 4 players are from associate nations. Also, a total of 119 capped players, 282 uncapped players, and 4 associate nation players will be entering the IPL 2023 mini-auction. A maximum of 87 players can be acquired in the auction of which 30 can be overseas.
Talking about Sri Lanka players, the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB), Maheesh Theekshana (CSK), Matheesha Pathirana (CSK), and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (PBKS) were retained by their respective franchises. Dushmantha Chameera who was a part of LSG in IPL 2022 was released by the franchise.
Both Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana played important roles for their respective teams in the last IPL season. Hasaranga ended up as the second-highest wicket-taker with 26 scalps for RCB, while Theekshana picked up 12 wickets for CSK.
Every Sri Lankan player has registered at a base price of 50 lakhs. Below is the list of Sri Lankan players for the IPL 2023 auction. The likes of Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Dasun Shanakla, and Charith Asalanka should be on the radar of multiple franchises in the upcoming auction.
