Joe Root was picked by Rajasthan Royals during IPL 2023 auction. The franchise bought the England star for Rs. 1 crore during the auction. Joe Root had a base price of Rs. 1 crore in the IPL 2023 auction. Joe Root is an England player. Root is 31 years old.

He is a top-order batsman who has played for England in all three formats. He also bowls off-spin occasionally. He is also the former Test skipper of England. However, he is yet to play in the Indian Premier League.

Joe Root Has Never Played in IPL

Joe Root has never played in IPL. Since he had a lot of responsibilities as England’s Test skipper in the past, he never registered for the IPL auction. However, he prepared himself to enter the IPL 2023 auction this year.

For England, Root has played 127 Tests, 158 ODIs, and 32 T20Is so far. In 127 Tests, he has slammed 10,629 runs at an average of 49.44. He has also shattered 28 centuries and 55 fifties in the longest format, including 5 double centuries.

He is one of the top Test batsmen in international cricket currently. In ODIs, he has scored 6207 runs at an average of 50.06. He has also slammed 16 centuries and 36 half-centuries in ODIs. He has also picked 26 wickets in One Day Internationals.

In T20Is, Root has only played 32 games. He has scored 893 runs at an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of 126+. He also accounts for 5 fifties in the shortest format with a top knock of 90. Root last played a T20I game for England in May 2019.
