The IPL auction is a thrilling occasion that has the potential to change a player’s life, while viewers are treated to an emotional roller coaster as clubs decide on their starting lineups. 991 players registered for the auction this year, and 405 made the final list, comprising 132 foreign players and 273 Indian players. The teams only have 87 seats open to them, and they have a total budget of 183.15 crores at their disposal.
Sam Curran Is Someone You Want In Particular Time Right Now: Chris Gayle
When asked to pick among Sam Curran, Ben Stokes and Cameron Green, who can attract a good amount of money, the Universe Boss said:
“My take would be Sam Curran and Ben Stokes. There would be some franchises who can go for over 16 crores for these two guys. Sam Curran is young and the franchises will be looking for the future as well. He is someone you want in a particular time right now.”
The Surrey cricketer had been in previous seasons of the IPL. After making a remarkable entry in the IPL with the Punjab-based franchise, CSK had roped him in the 2020 season which turned out to be a disaster for the team but Curran impressed everyone with his all-round performance. He was retained for the 2021 season for his good showing.
Curran holds the ability to pick wickets at a good pace and also fires with the bat to add quick runs to the scoreboard. An injury caused him to withdraw from the IPL 2022 but he looks to get back to playing cricket soon and all the franchises will aim to get him back to his old colors.
He has taken 32 wickets in as many games with his best figures being 4/11 while hitting 337 runs in 32 innings at a strike rate of 149.78. His numbers in the IPL have been good so far, thus multiple owners will be looking to acquire Sam Curran to their squad for IPL 2023.
