IPL Auction 2023: "SRH Will Target Australian Talent Cameron Green": Chris Gayle Ahead Of The IPL Auction 2023

Cameron Green, an Australian, might be of keen importance to an Indian Premier League team if his name appears in the IPL 2023 auctions in Kochi on December 23, Friday.

Green, who played three Twenty20 Internationals in India, batted at a strike rate of over 200 when opening the innings for Australia.

The mini-auction for the Indian Premier League will occur on December 23, 2023, in Kochi. In preparation for the 16th IPL season, all 10 franchises will search for their respective squads.

Green, a young cricketer with potential who can bowl close to 140kmph, is currently in high demand. Chris Gayle, a former West Indies all-rounder, projected that Green may demand a high price because IPL teams are constantly wanting to invest in valuable all-rounders.

“Cameron Green has to play in Indian conditions”: Chris Gayle

In an interview with Jio Cinema, Gayle stated that SRH must consider whether Indian pitches will work for Cameron Green. Gayle predicted that SRH would select the Australian player over Ben Stokes, who many predict will fetch the most price during the IPL 2023 auctions.

“Surprise bid, unbelievable. No way this is going to happen. One has to factor in that Green has to play in Indian conditions,” Gayle said of Green’s top bid by SRH, who have a purse of INR 42.5Cr going into the auction on Saturday.

SRH will be going into the mammoth purse of over Rs 42 crores and have several key positions to fill. SRH need to buy someone to fill their captaincy position, apart from players for openers and wicketkeeping positions.

SRH might launch bids for the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green apart from getting engaged in bidding wars from Indian domestic batters.

The franchise did not have a good IPL last time around and let go of their captain Kane Williamson and their wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran ahead of the upcoming season.
