“He is a 3-dimensional player, bat, bowl and field, can bat at the top of the order as well and a death bowler. Even though we have got Rabada and Arshdeep, but somebody as good as Sam Curran, no surprises there.”

Curran broke Chris Morris’ record for INR 16.25 crore to become the most expensive buy at an IPL auction. Also, he has become the most expensive player in the history of the IPL, overtaking even the retained players – Virat Kohli and KL Rahul (INR 17 crore).

During the same discussion, Stuart Binny showered praise on the young Englishman and said:

“I think it’s also the amount of hard work that he has put in. The results he has got, not only for the teams that he has played but also for England proves his amount and champion all-rounders demand this price.”

Former Australia National Cricket Team player Tom Moody, meanwhile, said that the stars aligned perfectly for Curran to bag a huge INR 18.50 crore IPL deal. He said:

“It’s a great example of, particularly in the mini-auction, of supply and demand. There’s a huge demand for every team for an all-rounder. And Sam Curran, it’s also perfect timing for him, given his performances in the World Cup, and his age. All the stars have aligned for him perfectly to get this type of price. It’s a big pick up for Kings and a good one, they look a very very good side.”
