Nitish Rana is leading his team Kolkata Knight Riders from the very front in the ongoing game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens. The left-handed batsman took Umran Malik to the cleaners to revive his team’s chase in the match.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ decision to bowl first did not pay off as Sunrisers Hyderabad piled up a massive total of 228 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. Harry Brook starred with the bat, scoring the first century of the ongoing IPL 2023 to guide his team to a mammoth total.

The England star remained unbeaten on 100 off 55 balls. Apart from him, SRH skipper Aiden Markram impressed with the bat too, scoring 50 off 26 balls. Abhishek Sharma also played a fine cameo, smashing 32 off just 17 balls.

Chasing a mammoth total of 229, Kolkata Knight Riders needed a solid start. However, they began their chase in a disastrous fashion. Their in-form opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz departed in the very first over without opening his account.

Marco Jansen then dismissed Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine on successive deliveries in the 4th over to leave Kolkata Knight Riders reeling at 20 for 3. SRH was all over the hosts at that stage before skipper Nitish Rana decided to take the matter into his own hands.

The Southpaw launched a stunning counterattack in the 6th over to revitalize his team’s chase. In the final over of the powerplay, he took Umran Malik to the cleaners by smashing him for 28 runs. He started the over with a four after a short delivery took the edge of his bat and ran away to the fine leg boundary.

On the second ball, he hit the pacer for a six. The third ball was dragged toward deep mid-wicket for a four before he hit the next two balls for fours too. He finished the over with an outstanding six over backward point.
