LSG vs DC: “Take A Bow Mark Wood”- Twitter Reacts As Lucknow Super Giants Register A Comprehensive Win Over Delhi Capitals In IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a convincing victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2023. LSG won the match by 50 runs & made a statement that they are a team to beat. Mark Wood was the destroyer in chief and he took his maiden 5 wicket haul which included key wickets of Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh & Sarfaraz Khan in his 4 overs & gave away 14 runs.
David Warner was the only batter who looked in control and scored 56 runs in 48 balls where he struck 7 fours. DC’s middle order got exposed as the likes of Rovman Powell & Rilee Rossouw couldn’t trouble the scorers. In the modern era losing the match by 50 runs is massive as later NRR (net run rate) could come into play.

LSG opening batter Kyle Mayers set the tone when he smashed 73 runs in 38 balls where he struck 2 fours & 7 huge sixes. The cameo of Nicholas Pooran of 36 runs in 21 balls proved to be quite decisive as at one stage it looked like LSG would set a target of around 170 runs.
DC head coach Ricky Ponting would be dejected as there was no intent shown by the batters as chasing 194 is not a big ask in modern cricket given the fact that they had a long batting lineup. We should not forget that this was the first match at Lucknow Stadium where the conditions were quite new for both teams.

The margin of this loss could hurt @DelhiCapitals. What a complete performance from @LucknowIPL. And Mayers gives them even more options.

Very good win for @LucknowIPL The key moment was the dropped catch of Mayers. Delhi had the match in control in the powerplay and that catch would have made it very difficult for Lucknow. How one mistake changes a game! And then Mark Wood’s back to back gems! @RevSportz #LSGvsDC

Mark Wood too good, right through, hard lengths, searing pace, be great to see him stay fit through the tournament.
Also a lesson for Nortje, who has the pace but little else for DC. #LSGvsDC

Super performance by Mark Wood to pick 5 wickets. Delhi haven’t batted well, primarily because of Wood’s hostile pace and control which rattled them
