Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) cricketer Deepak Hooda took an excellent catch of Tilak Verma. Tilak Verma was looking ominous as the left-handed batter was dismissed on 26 runs in 22 balls and struck 2 huge sixes. Deepak Hooda almost lost his balance but took the catch.
Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss & opted to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Once again, the openers Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan were dismissed cheaply.
Cameron Green along with Suryakumar Yadav stitched a massive partnership of 66 runs in 38 balls as the team earlier was in a spot of bother at 38-2. The duo were quite fearless in their approach despite the track being a bit sluggish.
Deepak Hooda takes a screamer
At the end of 17 overs, MI’s score was 149-5. Naveen-ul-Haq was bowling the 18th over, on the 3rd delivery, Tilak Verma couldn’t time the slower ball outside off properly as Deepak Hooda took a running catch at the long off.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Naveen-ul-Haq has shown good control over his line and length. The right-arm pacer now has taken 4 scalps as his variations have been quite hard to pick. MI’s score at 17.3 overs was 159-6.
Crucial Phase for LSG
LSG must aim to restrict MI below 180 runs as MI have got the services of the veteran spinner Piyush Chawla who has been in the form of his life. It would be interesting to see how Mohsin Khan fares at the back end of the innings
MI fans would be hoping that Nehal Wadhera plays a breezy cameo for the team. The left-handed batter has come into the side as an impact player. The pitch has started to deteriorate and it won’t be easy for LSG’s batters to assert their dominance.
