Dwaine Pretorius suffered a painful blow in his ribs while trying to collect a throw in the ongoing IPL 2023 clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.
The right-arm fast-bowler was introduced into the attack in the 12th over and he nearly suffered a serious injury after bowling just the second ball of his first over. The second ball of the over was driven by Tim David towards Sisanda Magala who was fielding at mid-off.

The South African could not collect the ball cleanly and Tilak Varma, who was standing at the non-striker’s end, wanted to make the most of the fumble. The left-handed batsman wanted to take a quick single. However, David refused to run and Varma had to quickly get back inside the crease.
In the meantime, the fielder threw the ball at the non-striker’s end although it missed the stumps. And as Dwaine Pretorius was collecting the throw, unaware of the bat dragged inside the crease by Varma, he ended up suffering a painful blow. The bat rammed into his ribs, leaving him in great pain. Fortunately, no serious injury was suffered as he resumed his bowling soon.
