MI vs KKR: South African Duan Jansen And Marco Jansen Script Unique Record; Become First-Ever Twins To Participate In IPL

The 22nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is currently taking place between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The hosts handed a debut to young South African pacer Duan Jansen.

As Duan Jansen made his debut for Mumbai Indians, he along with his brother Marco Jansen, who is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, archived a unique feat in the league. They became the first-ever twins to play in the IPL.

Duan Jansen had a forgettable outing in his maiden game in the IPL. He was taken to the cleaners by the KKR batters and was smashed all over the park. He conceded 53 runs in his quote of 4 overs and took one wicket in Rinku Singh on 18 runs.

Notably, Marco Jansen also made his debut in the IPL for Mumbai Indians before getting picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2022 auction. The pacer has been doing well for the Aiden Markram-led side and has so far taken 4 wickets in two games.

MI vs KKR: Duan Jansen’s domestic record

Mumbai Indians’ debutant Duan Jansen is yet to represent South Africa at the international level. However, he has quite a decent record in domestic cricket. Not only with the ball, but he has also chipped in with the bat as well.

He has picked 36 wickets in 20 first-class matches along with 540 runs and four half-centuries at an average of over 22. He also has scalped 19 wickets in 16 List-A matches along with 99 runs in 11 innings. In 31 T20s, he has taken 24 wickets and 266 runs at an average of 19.00 in 21 innings.
