After being asked to bat first by Punjab Kings (PBKS), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted a mammoth score of 257-5. LSG’s batters were in beast mode as all the batters made an impact. Marcus Stoinis played a turbulent knock of 72 runs in 40 balls as he smashed 6 fours & 5 sixes & provided the impetus at the back end of the innings. LSG scored 73 runs in the last 5 overs as there was carnage by Marcus Stoinis & Nicholas Pooran.

Rahul Chahar was the pick of the bowlers who gave away only 29 runs in his 4 overs and took one wicket as the rest of the bowlers were whacked around the park. Astonishingly, Arshdeep Singh conceded 54 runs in his 4 overs as his all variations weren’t that effective.

It seemed as if the message from LSG’s dugout was to play fearless cricket after the heart-wrenching defeat against GT. Earlier in the innings Kyle Mayers set the tone by smashing a breezy knock of 54 runs in 24 balls as he struck 7 fours & 4 sixes.

Steep Road ahead for PBKS

PBKS will require a miracle to win from this situation as one of Prabhsimran Singh needs to smash a gigantic knock. The batters need to target 3 boundaries in an over which is a tough task as the pitch has started to misbehave a bit.

LSG on the other side would sense that they can register a resounding victory as later NRR (net run rate) can come into action. It would be interesting to see how the likes of Ravi Bishnoi & Krunal Pandya fare as their overs would be quite decisive.
