Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted a challenging score of 174-4. Virat Kohli continued his dominance by smashing yet another half-century and Faf du Plessis struck a stellar knock of 84 runs in 56 balls. PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran did a pretty good job with the ball in hand as he gave away 27 runs in his 4-over spell. Sam Curran‘s decision to drop the lethal pacer Kagiso Rabada & include Nathan Ellis was quite questionable.

PBKS had a pretty decent start to their power-play overs as they scored 49 runs but lost 4 wickets. It looked as if they were in a hurry to smash boundaries. Sam Curran along with Jitesh Sharma slowly started rebuilding the innings and took calculative risks.

Mohammed Siraj had taken a key wicket of Liam Livingstone which was a huge blow to PBKS. RCB under Virat Kohli (*stand-in skipper) looked like a completely different unit as there was a fighting spirit and bowlers were keen on picking wickets.

At the end of 9 overs, PBKS’ score was 70-4. Vijaykumar Vyshak was bowling the 10th over on the 5th delivery, Sam Curran guided the ball towards the backward point and went for a quick single but Hasaranga’s terrific throw at the non-striker’s end dismissed Sam Curran. Sam Curran was a bit slow to reach the other end as a dive would have saved him.

PBKS’ score at that time was 76-5 in 9.5 overs. All of a sudden, once again PBKS are in a spot of bother as the onus will be on Prabhsimran Singh to stay till the end of the innings. Virat would consider bringing back Siraj for an over as a couple of more wickets would end the contest.

PBKS in deep trouble

Chasing 99 runs in 10.1 overs is not a big task but the problem with PBKS is that they don’t have that many wickets in hand. PBKS’ batters should take the game deep as the role of Shahrukh Khan would be quite decisive in this contest.

RCB on the other hand can’t take PBKS lightly as one breezy cameo of 30-odd runs can put them in a precarious position. It looks unlikely that Glenn Maxwell would bowl another over as he could be targeted in these middle overs. It won’t be wrong to say that RCB holds the edge over PBKS.
