Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss & elected to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR had a pretty good start as they scored 88 runs in the first 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Nitish Rana along with Venkatesh Iyer slowly started rebuilding the innings. Nitish Rana was seen taking calculative risks as Venkatesh Iyer was struggling.
RCB’s bowlers made sure that they don’t bowl any freebies. The rising pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak took 2 key wickets of the dangerous-looking Jason Roy & N Jagadeesan in the 10th over which somewhat put brakes on the scoring run rate of KKR.

Mohammed Siraj, the right-arm speedster, was the pick of the bowlers as the right-arm speedster was spot-on with his line & length. Interim skipper Virat Kohli was seen using different field placements for the batters and was quite animated.
Wanindu Hasaranga takes the key wicket of Nitish Rana
At the end of 17 overs, KKR’s score was 167-2. Wanindu Hasaranga was bowling the 18th over, on the second delivery Nitish Rana tried to play a reverse paddle but couldn’t time the ball properly and got a top edge at the short third fielder where Vijaykumar Vyshak took a screamer. Nitish Rana was dismissed on 48 runs in 21 balls as he struck 3 fours & 4 sixes.

Venkatesh Iyer tried to play a slog sweep on the 4th delivery of Hasaranga’s over but got a huge top edge and the catch was taken by Maxwell at long-on. Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed on 31 runs in 26 balls as he smashed 3 fours. KKR’s score at 17.4 overs was 169-4.
Great Chance for RCB
RCB would back themselves to restrict KKR below 200 as it would be quite tough for the likes of Rinku Singh & Andre Russell to go berserk from the word go. It would be interesting to see how Mohammed Siraj ends his spell after being conceding only 18 runs in his 3 overs.

KKR fans would be hoping that Rinku Singh plays a breezy cameo which would give KKR some sort of chance to defend the target. All eyes would be on Andre Russell, the flamboyant all-rounder who has received a lot of flak for not performing according to his credentials.
