Chasing 145, Sunrisers Hyderabad started well. While Harry Brook did not look fluent, his opening partner Mayank Agarwal ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking. They added 31 runs for the first wicket before Anrich Nortje cleaned up Brook. The England batsman scored 7 runs off 14 balls prior to his departure.
Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi then added 38 runs for the second wicket but could not accelerate. And things became worse for SRH after Agarwal’s dismissal triggered a collapse. Axar Patel dismissed the right-handed batsman for 49 to reduce the hosts to 69 for 2.

6 runs later Ishant Sharma dismissed Tripathi for 10 before Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram departed for 5 and 3 respectively to leave SRH reeling at 85 for 5 in the 15th over. DC were well on top at that stage and a win for them was looking like a mere formality.
However, Heinrich Klaasen and Washington Sundar turned the game on its head by sharing a 46-run stand for the sixth wicket. And just when SRH were edging ahead in the game, Nortje dismissed Klaasen in the 19th over to leave the match finely poised. He departed after scoring 31 off 19 balls.
The equation was finally down to 13 runs from the final over. Mukesh Kumar then bowled brilliantly, conceding just a double and three singles to power his team to a much-needed win.
SRH vs DC Match Report: DC innings
Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals finished their innings on 144 for 9 after Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to ball first. Delhi’s top-order once again failed to provide the team with a good start.
The visitors dropped Prithvi Shaw from the team as skipper David Warner opened the innings with Philip Salt. However, the move did not yield the desired result as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Salt for a duck in the very first over.
Mitchell Marsh looked in good touch but failed to capitalize on the start. He and Warner added 38 runs for the second wicket before T Natarajan sent back Marsh. The allrounder departed after scoring 25 off 15 balls with the help of 5 fours.
Soon after the powerplay ended, DC suffered a mini-collapse, triggered by the dismissal of their skipper. Washington Sundar dismissed the southpaw for 21 to pick the first of his three wickets in the game. In the same over, he dismissed Sarfaraz Khan and Aman Hakim Khan to leave DC reeling at 62 for 5 after 8 overs.

Manish Pandey and Axar Patel then stopped the rot and guided their team to a respectable total with a 69-run stand. The partnership came to an end at the wrong time for DC. Just when the two set batsmen would have wanted to play the big shots, Bhuvneshwar ended the stand by dismissing Axar for 34 on the 5th ball of the 18th over.
And on the second ball of the 19th over, Pandey was run out for 34. DC eventually huffed and puffed to 144 for the loss of 9 wickets.
Brief score:
DC 144/9 in 20 overs (Manish Pandey 34; Washington Sundar 3-28) beat SRH 137/6 in 20 overs (Mayank Agarwal 49; Axar Patel 2-21) by 7 runs.
