Abhishek Sharma questioned by police for hours over suicide case of a model - Reports

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has found himself in trouble ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The young batter was questioned by the police authorities in connection with the suspected suicide of model Tanya Singh.

Abhishek Sharma reportedly was in a relationship with Tanya Singh and the duo were very close. The 28-year-old model was found hanging from the ceiling of her apartment in the city’s Vesu area on February 19. It raised a lot of speculations and since then there have been a lot of speculations.

The police officials questioned Abhishek Sharma in Gujarat’s Surat city for nearly four hours. The police authorities had asked the all-rounder to appear before and record the statement after the connection between cricket and the model was found. The model had also sent text messages to the cricketer

A police official recalls that they questioned Abhishek Sharma about his relationship with Tanya Singh. He revealed that the couple broke up 6 to 7 months ago and the cricketer didn’t reply at all. Speaking to PTI, he stated:

“We questioned Sharma about his relationship with Tanya Singh and since when they knew each other. It was revealed that both broke up 6 to 7 months ago. Though she used to send him text messages over the phone, he had stopped replying to them.”

Earlier the police official also revealed that they had not contacted Abhishek Sharma but police are verifying the CDR (Call Detail Record) and IP Detail Record (IPDR) data of the model’s phone. Speaking about the same, he stated:

“We have not contacted Abhishek Sharma yet but we will send him a notice. After verification, we may call the persons whose names come up during verification for recording their statements, if required.”

Abhishek Sharma to play a vital role for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024

Abhishek Sharma will be seen in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024. The all-rounder is touted as one of the most exciting youngsters in Indian cricket as he has played vital innings for his team in the domestic circuit as well as IPL with the bat, changing the course of the game. Apart from that he has also chipped in for his team with the ball.

Abhishek Sharma was recently seen in action in the Ranji Trophy for Punjab. He had a decent campaign and would be hoping to carry his form in the IPL 2024. The league will be played from 22nd March to 26th May and it is expected that he will open the innings for his team alongside Mayank Agarwal.

Abhishek Sharma will be playing under the leadership of Australia skipper Pat Cummins. The team management recently announced him as a leader for the upcoming edition of the league. He will be taking over the baton from Aiden Markram, who was captain of the team last year. SRH will open their campaign against KKR. They would be hoping to turn things around and win their second title this time around.
