Blow for LSG! Amid Mayank Yadav's rise, star India pacer gets ruled out of IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has faced a blow in IPL 2024 as one of their star pacers Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the tournament. Shivam Mavi has sustained an injury and will not be part of IPL 2024 anymore. Notably, the right-arm pacer did not feature in any three games of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024.
Shivam Mavi was expected to play some games for the team later. He moved to LSG from Gujarat Titans, whom he represented in the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons. Mavi has also played 6 T20I games for Team India.

LSG star Shivam Mavi ruled out of IPL 2024
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) informed in an official statement that Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to an injury.
“Lucknow Super Giants’ Shivam Mavi has unfortunately been ruled out for the rest of IPL 2024 due to injury. The talented right-arm fast bowler joined us after the auction in December and has been part of the camp from pre-season”, the official statement from LSG read.
The Lucknow franchise also added that they will support Mavi with his recovery process.
“He has been a key part of the squad for the season, hence we as well as Shivam are disappointed that his season has come to an end so soon. The franchise will continue to support Shivam and is committed to aiding him in his recovery process. We wish him a swift and complete return, and are sure he will be back fitter and stronger”, the statement further said.

Mayank Yadav has strengthened LSG’s pace attack
Meanwhile, Shivam Mavi’s ouster is not expected to affect LSG’s pace strength due to Mayank Yadav, who has proved himself to be a powerful pacer. The right-arm pacer has clinched two 3-wicket hauls in the last two games to bring the team home on both occasions. Yadav made his debut in IPL 2024.
With his ability to bowl lethal 150 KMPH deliveries consistently, Mayank Yadav has impressed the entire IPL fraternity. The 23-year-old pacer took 3 wickets for 27 runs vs Punjab Kings and 3 wickets for 14 runs vs RCB to help LSG defend their target.
Lucknow Super Giants has won 2 games out of 3 in IPL 2024. With 4 points, they grab the 4th place in the points table. The KL Rahul-led side lost their first match to Rajasthan Royals. However, they bounced back in clashes against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
LSG to face Gujarat Titans in next clash
In their previous game, LSG piled up 181-5 vs RCB batting first, thanks to crucial knocks by Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran (40*). Later, they bunded out RCB at 153 with a 3-wicket haul by Mayank Yadav and 2 wickets by Naveen-ul-Haq.
LSG will now face Gujarat Titans in their upcoming clash of IPL 2024. Lucknow will travel back home from Bengaluru for the encounter. The LSG vs GT clash will be played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
