MS Dhoni not coming out to bat in the first two games for Chennai Super Kings left the fans disappointed. Despite the situation being perfect for him to come in and hit a few blows, the former CSK skipper did not come out to bat.

He did have a few eye-catching moments on the field, especially with the catch of Vijay Shankar in the last match. Despite handing over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni was still very much part of the decision-making.

MS Dhoni’s Moment Of Genius Against GT

Despite CSK’s wins in the first two games, MS Dhoni’s decision to not bat himself has been a subject of debate. Several CSK and Indian cricket experts have questioned the reason behind Dhoni not coming out to bat. However, batting coach Michael Hussey has given indications that the former CSK captain in all probability will bat against Delhi Capitals. He predicted that Dhoni would finish the match with a six.

“My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will be batting. The crowd will be roaring and MSD will hit a six to finish the match,” Michael Hussey said in the video released by IPL’s official social media page.

CSK beat GT by 63 runs on Tuesday and have two wins in as many games. They will next play Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. Meanwhile, DC are yet to open their account after losing their first two games. Delhi will be led by Rishabh Pant while CSK have a new captain in Ruturaj Gaikwad.

MS Dhoni decided to step down as the CSK skipper a day before the start of IPL 2023. Ruturaj Gaikwad was announced as the new skipper and he has done a good job so far with two back-to-back wins. Meanwhile, Hussey asserted that the DC vs CSK game might be a close contest.

Delhi Capitals Are Going To Be Desperate: Michae; Hussey

“They’re going to be desperate. They’re going to be looking to play a great match. We all start on zero and try and put another good performance against Delhi. Yeah, but I think if we can just focus really well on our game and try and execute our skills as best we can, then hopefully it gives us a good chance to get the result we’re after,” Hussey said.

After being named as the captain of Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad said that he was expecting him to be named the captain at the start of this year. He further said that MS Dhoni’s viral social media post on his “new role” also indicated that his captaincy was around the corner.

“I remember him posting about a new role on social media and everybody was just pointing towards me and asking me whether ‘you are the next captain?’ I was like, ‘maybe it meant something else for social media’. Back of the mind, it was there. I would say just a week (before) we came and he said, ‘I’ve decided this and this’, but definitely now that I’m here, I’m really looking forward to this.”

So far in the first two games, Gaikwad’s captaincy has been praised a lot. He has now the task of making CSK the first team to win three games on the trot.
