Chennai Super Kings have received positive news regarding their injured New Zealand players, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell. The trio is expected to be available for the upcoming Test series against Australia at home, as confirmed by the head coach.

Daryl Mitchell sustained a foot injury, leading to his exclusion from the entire T20I series. Rachin Ravindra was sidelined for the second T20I due to knee discomfort. Devon Conway suffered a thumb injury during the second T20I and was ruled out of the last game.

Devon Conway Ruled Of 3rd T20I Due To Thumb Injury

During the second T20I, Devon Conway sustained a left thumb injury while wicket-keeping. He had to leave the field, and Finn Allen took over the wicket-keeping duties. The New Zealand Cricket Board provided an update, confirming that X-rays showed no fractures.

The left-handed batter didn’t bat during the run chase. The Mitchell Santner-led side suffered a 72-run loss, conceding a 2-0 lead to the Australian team. The home team was bowled out for 102 runs, with all-rounder Glenn Phillips top-scoring with 42 runs off 35 deliveries.

We’re Not 100% Sure – Gary Stead On Devon Conway

Head coach Gary Stead confirmed that Mitchell and Ravindra would be ready for the first Test match against Australia. However, Stead said that Conway’s availability for the opener remains uncertain. Conway is anticipated to recover in time for the second test.

“There is a little bit of a concern because we’re not 100% sure exactly how it’s [the thumb] going to respond over the next three or four days,” Black Caps coach Gary Stead said on Saturday.

“So we’ve still got a little bit of time. And I think at the end of the day, it will come down to pain management and what he can do in that space around making sure that he feels comfortable at the crease.”

“It’s still a little bit unknown. Last night he had some strange things going on with his thumb. It was clicking a little bit. At this stage he has been cleared of a break – which is great.”
