Star Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is all set to retire from all forms of cricket after IPL 2024, as per reports. Ahead of his retirement, Dinesh Karthik shared two biggest regrets in his cricket career involving Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Dinesh Karthik is part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024. After a poor show last season, Karthik has done a brilliant job this season at the start. In 4 innings, the right-handed batsman has slammed 90 runs at 173+ strike rate.
Remarkably, he played unbeaten knocks of 38 and 28 in the first two games. He also helped RCB to outplay Punjab Kings with his 28 runs, which is RCB's only victory in IPL 2024 so far. Karthik has also done an impressive job behind the stumps.

Dinesh Karthik shares two regrets of cricket career with MI and CSK
Dinesh Karthik had a chat with Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on the latter’s YouTube channel ahead of his retirement. During the conversation, Karthik revealed his two biggest regrets of his cricket career. According to Karthik, parting ways with Mumbai Indians after IPL 2013 and not being able to play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL are his two biggest regrets.
"I don't have much regrets in my cricket career - one will be the fact that I didn't want to get retained in 2013, MI could have really helped me grow and become an even better player. Second will be I couldn't be part of CSK but I respect them a lot as they bid for me everytime", the right-handed batter said.
Notably, Dinesh Karthik was part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2012 and 2013. He did not allow them to retain him for the 2014 season and became a part of Delhi Daredevils. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians franchise rose to the limelight in the 2013 season under skipper Rohit Sharma and won five IPL titles in the next seven seasons.

DK played for many IPL teams except CSK
Dinesh Karthik is a player from Tamil Nadu and also plays for them in the domestic circuit. However, he never got a chance to play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) despite being part of IPL since the debut season in 2008.
During the YouTube chat, Karthik also revealed he expected Chennai Super Kings to pick him in the first edition of IPL 2008. However, when MS Dhoni was picked by the franchise, he knew that he wouldn't be picked as he shares a similar profile.
Interestingly, DK has played for multiple IPL teams except for CSK. The 38-year-old was part of Delhi Daredevils from IPL 2008 to 2010. He played for Punjab Kings in 2011 and moved to Mumbai Indians for 2012-13 seasons.
The wicketkeeper later played for Delhi again in 2014. He joined RCB in 2015 and Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017. KKR kept him for four seasons from 2018 to 2021 before RCB picked him up in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
