"Don't know what's going to happen" - Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir clash worries ex-India pacer

Former India, KKR, RCB, RR, GT, DC, and PBKS pacer Varun Aaron, who is a part of the Hindi and English commentary entourage of Star Sports, feels Virat Kohli just needs to gaze at the KKR dugout. Why? Because the sight of Kolkata’s mentor Gautam Gambhir, his statesman, will fill him up with sheer aggression, fire, and motivation to beat the 2-time champions later tonight. The entire world is waiting to see the drama unfold between Kolkata and Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.
It is being regarded as the most exciting, enthralling, and best fixture of IPL 2024 this week. KKR locking horns with RCB doesn’t make this fixture important but the possible face-off between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir is what makes this tie special. Last year, we saw an unexpected chapter added to their fierce rivalry which began from the 2013 season onwards when the duo got into it while Gambhir was on his 3rd season with Knight Riders.
Virat Kohli was still pretty young but had started to make waves with his performances while Gambhir had entered the 2013 season as captain of the reigning champions. Gambhir chose to give a send-off to Kohli when he got out but the latter didn’t like what his Delhi senior said and that was the first time we saw a bust-up between them.
Varun Aaron says he has no idea as to what will transpire in the dugout between Gambhir and Virat Kohli
After that, their rivalry and face-offs were limited until last season when Avesh Khan flamed the fire inside Virat Kohli during a match between LSG and RCB. Avesh had slammed his helmet after scoring the winning runs at the Chinnaswamy and when RCB went to Lucknow for the return fixture, it was as if Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were gearing up to fight inside the Octagon.
That was exactly the type of intensity both showed during that heated moment after Naveen-Ul-Haq too had said something to Virat Kohli. But now, there’s no Avesh Khan, no Naveen, and no LSG but Gautam Gambhir might still remain the same. The hype is so much so that Varun Aaron is saying that he doesn’t even know what is going to happen if they get into a fight at the dugout.
“I’m looking forward to the match up outside the boundary line. Gautam Gambhir is going to be at the boundary line right beside the RCB dugout, don’t know what’s going to happen there, I think, you know how Virat is, he likes to have some fire all the time, and if he just looks at the KKR dugout, he’s just going to be fired up.” – Varun Aaron said via Star Sports.
KKR aiming to beat RCB for the 3rd time in a row
With KKR having an upper hand over RCB in the head-to-head stats, the 2012 and 2014 champions will not just be aiming to increase their lead but they will also aim to beat them for the third time in a row. Last season, KKR did the double over them and tonight a hat-trick could possibly be on the cards.
