₹25 crores and ₹20.50 crores- Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins reveal each other's reaction right after historic IPL 2024 auction

The dynamic pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins is gearing up for the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins recently shared their activities during last year’s IPL 2024 mini-auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the third match of IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, March 23. All eyes will be on Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, who are among the costliest buys in the history of the marquee tournament.

The Australian skipper picked up 45 IPL wickets across 42 matches at an average of 30.16 and an economy rate of 8.54. He has claimed 55 wickets in 50 T20Is at an economy rate of 7.37. Notably, Cummins has been absent from T20 matches since the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The left-arm fast bowler’s most recent IPL stint dates back to 2015 when he played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He has taken 34 wickets in 27 matches at an average of 20.38 and an economy rate of 7.17, with his best bowling performance figures of 4/15.

We’re Both Pretty Excited – Pat Cummins

Mitchell Starc mentioned casually cooking dinner at home when he saw Pat Cummins’ auction numbers. Pat Cummins expressed excitement about their respective teams during a conversation with Starc.

“I was at home. Cooking dinner. And when the auction was on and obviously saw Pat’s numbers come up,” Starc shared.

“I was chatting to Starkey during the auction. We’re both pretty excited, not only some nice amounts but also really happy with the teams we went to,” Cummins added.

In the IPL 2024 auction, Cummins fetched a record-breaking price of Rs 20.50 crore from SunRisers Hyderabad, setting a new benchmark. However, Starc broke the record as he was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a staggering total of Rs 24.75 crore.

Pat Cummins Certainly Bowls It More Than I Do – Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc humorously compared his skills to Pat Cummins’s abilities, suggesting they both excel in different areas. Starc acknowledged Cummins’ effectiveness in utilizing bouncers effectively.

“I’m probably a better left-arm bowler than he is. He’s probably a better right-arm bowler than I am. I have definitely got a better yorker. I never had to face myself so in my experience it is hard to face Pat. Pat is good at all of the things. He uses the bouncer a lot more than I do and he uses it effectively. If he had to bowl one delivery for the rest of his life it would be bouncer,” Starc said.

“Better yorker definitely Starc. It is probably the yorker that he has got a lot of wickets with,” Cummins said.
